Can someone explain to me the difference between logic and theory?
I'm writing a paper and I was trying to understand the difference between scientific and logical thinking. I think logic deals with the black and white whereas scientific starts with a big idea. However to evoke logic can't it start with a hypothesis and then use logic to determine the truth? Meaning scientific and logical thinking have a similarity?

- If i remember right logic can be backed up with hard proof and a theory cannot.
- Logic is more intuition Theory is more studied intuition.
- My logic is if that's you in that pic, ur sexy. My theory is that if you'd be wit me you'd be happy.
- There are two types of logic- induction (making inferences from empirical data) and deduction (making conclusions from that which we know to be true). Science is essentially based on the scientific method where one creates an hypothesis (an unproven idea), accumulates data through experimentation, and then draws a logical conclusion.
- I would say logic is a prerequisite for science. In other words science is specific application of logic, not something completely separate.
- Logic is a science and hence it deals with hypothesis and reasoning like all other branches of science do. Logic represents the next step/stage in the process of scientific thinking. It deals with the various principles and standards that will determine the verity and validity of a inference or deduction. Logic is basically an understanding of the various principles that will verify the truthfulness and relevance of a particular reasoning.
