Is there a way to neither decline nor accept a homecoming request until you see who else asks you?

Homecoming for my school is approaching soon. My question is how do you avoid giving someone an answer until seeing who else asks you? For example, if a friend asked me to go versus someone like a crush, I wouldn't want to say yes in case my crush asked me, however I wouldn't want to say no in case my crush doesn't ask me. Is there an appropriate way to neither decline nor accept a homecoming request until you see who else asks you?

  2. well obviously if you're asking this, you've delayed it a little right? if there's someone specific you want to go with, maybe you should ask them!
  3. u'd just say that u need to check ur calendar if u can go or not and call that person later (just an excuse) and there u go! Hope it helps ^^
  4. Ahh the backburner approach. It is very difficult to pull of putting someone off in hopes that someone better comes along. The best thing to do is just not let fate decide and go ask whatever person you want to take and save yourself the hassle. Or say yes and then just crush your friends feelings when that someone better comes along.
  5. say that you'll have to think about it or just be like maybe i have to sleep on it. ANSWER MY QUESTION!! I NEED HELP!!
  6. very good question... maybe you could tell your friend that you don't know if you have plans or not. id actually come out and tell my friend that i want to see if my crush is gonna ask me and id know they'd understand. then u could try to get a date for your friend, then ud all b happy!!
